God’s not Bi-Polar

ComicBooks0071.jpg Living Hell image by ratlamp1 Alright, alright, alright. Before the revolution begins. Let me see if I have Pat Robertson’s point clear.Just in case there is an all knowing and all loving God who created each and everyone of us in his image, and just in case this loving God is, lets say, bored or something so he must give his most prized creations, the ones he loves more than any other a world of temptation and then a set of rules to live by in the said world, or else it’s pretty much eternal damnation, hell, fire, torment, bad hair days, pokey pokey with the pitch forks kinda time forever and ever. Right so far?

Just in case all this is true, we should live by this set of rules jotted down a long time ago and interpreted by who today? Just in case we, should limit our imaginations, pleasures, actions and reactions to first thinking, “Does this possible devine and loving God approve of this?”. Then what if one God, say the Catholic’s God says it’s okay, but somebody else’s God, say Allah, says it’s not okay? Should we not do it just in case?

This is an awful lot of rules. Then what happens if we die and, BINGO, no consequences? Do we get to go back and relive our lives or are folks like you going to be standing there saying, “Gee, sorry, guess you coulda nailed that hot girl afterall. Here’s a Smiley Face Sticker for not tryin’.”

jesusymca.jpg image by ratlamp1Sorry, but I go back to my original point, that this is just fear-mongering. If you like it, do it. As for me, leave me out of your shenanigans and shame on you for trying to scare ignorant people. And don’t give me that, “I’ll pray for your soul” bullshit, either. God knows me plenty well enough without you stickin’ my name into your endless chatter.

The Bible is a wonderful book, but it’s not the only one. Salvation is a wonderful idea, but you do not have the first clue to it. “Love your neighbor as yourself” is the best piece of advice out there. The part most folks forget is that it requires that you love yourself first.
